The Clinic Manager is responsible for promoting a high-performance culture in a supportive environment that creates a high level of employee satisfaction and engagement. The Manager is responsible for supporting all initiatives that ensure the quality and efficiency standards result in the highest level of patient experience. The Manager provides operational leadership to the team, assuring quality in the day to day running of the clinic.


  • Provides daily guidance to the team to ensure the highest standards for the patient experience are being met. Ensures high level of patient satisfaction, including supporting the team in continuous improvement, and providing service recovery as needed
  • Manages patient flow, quality initiatives and provides day to day recommendations for continually improving the patient experience
  • Interviews candidates, makes recommendations for hire, provides support for onboarding and training of the team
  • Oversees quality and compliance initiatives that maintain our standards for patient care
  • Participates in employee feedback loop, providing and supporting individual growth opportunities and career development plans. Provides continuous and meaningful feedback, including performance evaluations. Recommends financial increases that create parity and incentivizes staff toward improved performance on key metrics.
  • Partners with the revenue cycle management team to ensure that payments fees are appropriately collected, posted and reported, expenses paid and financial reports generated
  • Creates work schedules that maximize efficient utilization of staff
  • Manages optometrists’ templates and scheduling process in order to ensure efficient and smooth patient flow, and cohesive staff utilization
  • Continuously monitors the facility to maintain high standards of presentation and functionality
  • Supports the owner in achieving performance standards on targets and benchmarks that maximize productivity and utilization
  • Supports the optical team to support revenue goals
  • Ensures availability of medical and office supplies and supports inventory management
  • Liaison with internal and external subject matter experts (e.g. marketing, finance)
  • Supports the owner in performance on special projects as assigned


  • Leadership and management experience and skills that supports high patient experience standards and the development of the team
  • Ability to follow and give oral and written instructions
  • Capable of maintaining high degree of confidentiality
  • Strong time management skills that support a high-performance environment
  • Ability to maintain a professional, respectful and courteous work environment
  • The work environment is fast-paced, requires strong time management skills and is focused on results-driven leadership. You must be able to self-manage and work independently and lead by example


  • High school graduate, with previous work experience in management, or previous equivalent experience in an optometry/medical/optical practice
  • Eye Care Certification (CCOA, RO, COT, etc) a definite asset
  • Technology savvy, with competency in Microsoft Office 365 Suite, social media and ability to learn software applications as required


  • This is a full-time position located in southeast Calgary
  • While mainly weekday hours, the flexibility to work some evening and weekend shifts is desirable
