More Than a Routine Eye Exam

The Vivid Eye Experience is more than just a routine eye exam, and our team is committed to making your eye exam experience as personalized as possible.

Your eye exam frequency depends on your personal needs. Adults who currently wear eyeglasses or contact lenses should have annual eye exams. Most people need to see their eye doctor at least once every 2 years.

This is because many eye diseases, such as glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, and diabetic eye diseases, do not present easily noticeable symptoms when they first appear.

Our team will work with you to prepare an eye exam schedule that works for you. Contact us to schedule your appointment today.

Eye Exams for the Whole Family

Our adult eye exams are tailored for the patients receiving them. That means we want to hear from you and learn what your vision concerns are, whether you want more comfortable contact lenses or clearer sight.

Seniors and kids receive different tests based on their needs and other factors, including age, medical history, and their current eye health.

During Your Eye Exam

During your eye exam, you can expect:

  • State of the art technology is used to help confirm you are seeing your best and your eyes and body are healthy. Our equipment can amaze you with detailed imaging of your eyes. We love to show you how incredible your eyes are!
  • Friendly doctors of optometry who explain all the testing and make recommendations that are customized for your unique lifestyle.
  • Knowledgeable and dedicated personal eyewear consultant with you every step of the way to provide a personalized experience.

Following your eye exam, you can expect:

  • A complimentary tune-up on your existing eyewear.
  • A complimentary eyewear consultation performed by an eyewear consultant who will help you find personalized solutions for your visual needs, budget, and style.
  • A follow-up with your personal eyewear consultant to answer any questions and provide further information.

Your Eye Exam from Start to Finish

We want our patients to know exactly what to expect when they visit us for their comprehensive eye exam. Each step of the process was created to prioritize the patient experience. We can’t wait to welcome you to one of our clinics in SE Calgary.

If this is your first appointment with us, there will be some registration information that we will complete together. This helps us gain perspective on your current eye health, vision care history to date, medical insurance information, and other important information that we need.

The great news is, at your future appointments, we can skip this step. Instead, we’ll ask about your current vision needs and if anything has changed.

The first stage of the exam involves meeting with your technician/optometrist’s assistant. This experienced technician will stay with you for the duration of your appointment. They will perform several preliminary tests before you meet with an eye doctor.

With the preliminary testing completed, you will then meet one of our optometrists. All our optometrists provide identical standards of care, so you can feel confident when you meet with them!

If you’re one of the lucky few who don’t require vision correction, this step will not apply to you! However, for more than 70% of Canadian adults, corrective lenses are needed to provide proper vision. We will update your prescription to help you see to the best of your abilities.

Armed with your prescription, you’ll be invited to our optical dispensary, where you can select from dozens of eyewear brands. Our selection is enormous and includes everything from Canada’s affordable favourites to exclusive brands from Europe, Asia, and other parts of the world.

Empowering Eye Care Through Technology

Our practice uses equipment that enables our eye care consultants and eye doctors to gain a complete understanding of your eye health, vision correction needs, and other factors related to your health and wellness.

Our technology is implemented throughout our practice and is all about getting a complete picture of your eye health so we can tailor our treatment and eyewear recommendations to your needs.

We implement different equipment, such as the optomap wide-field retinal camera and Nidek ocular coherence tomography, which helps define the standard for optical imaging. This technology gives us the ability to:

  • Create detailed images of your retina, macula, optic nerve, and other inner-eye structures to spot signs that diseases may be developing.
  • Detect changes to your overall health during the early stages of some conditions (such as diabetes and high blood pressure).

Closely monitor developing eye diseases and provide personalized treatment recommendations, including vision-threatening diseases like glaucoma and macular degeneration.

In addition to empowering our doctors and staff to gain incredible insights into your overall eye health and vision needs, the technology we incorporate into our eye exams also helps improve patient comfort through:

  • A “no puff” tonometer to measure eye pressure without the uncomfortable puff of air that is sometimes used to obtain these measurements.
  • Corneal topography equipment that helps us provide the right fit for contacts and personalize our treatment recommendations for dry eyes.
  • Noninvasive testing that’s designed to provide comprehensive information about your unique eyes.

MYAH from Topcon

At Vivid Eye Care, we use the MYAH from Topcon, a versatile tool designed to support both myopia control and dry eye assessments

For myopia management, MYAH offers precise axial length measurements, helping us track myopia progression in children and create personalized treatment plans.

For dry eye evaluations, MYAH provides a detailed analysis of tear film stability and meibomian gland function, allowing us to diagnose and manage dry eye disease effectively. With MYAH, we can deliver targeted care tailored to your specific needs.

Optomap Monaco

At Vivid Eye Care, we prioritize your eye health by implementing diagnostic technology into our exams, including the optomap Monaco. This technology captures ultra-widefield retinal images in just seconds, providing a comprehensive view of your retina without the need for dilation. What sets the optomap Monaco apart is its integrated optical coherence tomography (OCT) capability, allowing us to see detailed, cross-sectional images of the retina for early detection and management of conditions like macular degeneration, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy.
